- ELEPHANT EMERGENCY - We must save Mare Noi!

Those of you who have followed BLES throughout the years will know that there are thousands of elephants in need of saving.

Friends, I need your help, more than ever before, to save this magnificent girl - her name is Mare Noi, which translates as ‘Little Mother’ - a name you would assume has a loving story behind it, right?

WRONG.

This sweet girl, in her early forties, has been subjected to so much suffering - it is unimaginable. Prepare yourself - this is a challenging read, and you are going to be left heartbroken.

Ever since she was thought old enough to reproduce, she has been repeatedly violated. Chained up by all four legs and forced to stand still while a bull mounts her is something she quickly had to learn to submit to.

We have no idea how many times she was forced to endure this cruel act, but we do know that she fell pregnant a total of three times and that she lost all three of the calves. Two of her pregnancies tragically ended in miscarriage. She was not allowed time to grieve or even heal but was immediately impregnated again. When she eventually went into labor, she gave birth to a dead calf.

Sadly, a lifetime of dragging logs can cause detrimental damage to a female elephant’s reproductive organs, and this is probably why she has gone through such unthinkable heartache.

BLES has been given the opportunity to welcome Mare Noi into our family, but we desperately need your help.

Due to reasons that can not be disclosed, we only have two days to gather the funds needed to save Mare Noi. If we fail to achieve this, Mare Noi will be sold to a breeder who will show her no mercy.

We can not let this happen!
