What We Do With Your Contributions
We all want to know how our money helps. In addition to the items listed, we use your contributions to buy food for all of the rescued animals in our care. BLES will never turn away an animal in need and so as well as our family of elephants, BLES also currently cares for an ever-growing number of dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, tortoises, turtles, birds, a crocodile and a monkey.
BLES frequently has to make emergency trips to the veterinarian, which is a six hour round trip and pay for life saving treatment.
BLES is the only lifeline that the animals in our community have and with your ongoing support, we can continue to save lives.
Elephant Rescue Fund
BLES frequently comes across elephants in need of immediate rescuing but because we have no safety net of funds, we are often unable to help. Time is a critical factor in these rescues and if we had a deposit amount on reserve, we would be able to act quickly and save more elephants. $5000 is a suggested contribution.
Food Fund
Four times a week, BLES receives deliveries of different healthy and locally grown feed for our rescued elephants. This is a great way for BLES to support the local community and the perfect way to ensure our elephants are getting the most nutritious diet. On average, BLES can spend up to $1500 a week, just on supplementary feed!
Spay and Neutering
There are too many neglected and unwanted dogs and cats living on the streets of Thailand. BLES wants to play an active role in population control, but needs your financial support to make this possible. The cost per animal is around $35.
Medical Bills
The more our feline and canine family grows, the more our expenses rise. The trip to the veterinarian is costly, but we are committed to spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing emergency, life saving services. A contribution to cover one of these veterinary bills would be around $125.
In addition to the cat/dog bills, some of the elephants at BLES need daily medical treatment. Contributions of around $315 can help cover some of their medical costs.
Community Support
In addition to the cat and dog outreach with the local community, we support the local community in various ways. All of our mahouts are local to avoid taking them away from their families and paid a generous salary in return for their hard work.
Sanctuary guests are invited to help us with school outreach programs, engage in cooking classes with local women, and participate in community events such as market days to support local venders.
BLES cannot thank you for your generosity enough. We have been able to make a significant and direct impact to the animals and inhabitants of our community for the last 16 years, because of the support we have received from you. With your ongoing support, BLES can continue to give back, save lives and create a safe and more compassionate world for the animals.
