King Kanoon

Kanoon (Jackfruit) was successfully relocated to BLES on the 5th September 2023.

Thought to be in his mid fifties, his frail body is covered in scars that tell the harrowing truths of captivity.

Kanoon spent his life being forced to alternate between tourism and timber work and as a result, he has been left with a broken front leg, which causes him to walk slower than your usual elephant and he is blind in one eye.

BLES was contacted about Kanoon’s desperate plight in June 2023.

Eager to help, BLES travelled down to meet Kanoon, his owner and the organisation fighting for his freedom - Unchained Elephants.

On the 5th September 2023, Kanoon was finally freed from his chains and welcomed into his new forever home - BLES.

Since his arrival, King Kanoon has impressed us all with his calm demeanour and his willingness to trust. He enjoys mud - the sloppier the better - and is an absolute joy to watch.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in the liberation of this sweet old bull.
